Staff Qualifications -
We select teachers who are educated, experienced, caring, and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All teachers receive additional training through staff meetings, workshops and seminars throughout the year.
Curriculum -
RCA uses Christian curriculum from the A Beka Publishing Company. This curriculum is one of the most academically advanced and challenging Biblical curriculums offered to Christian schools. Teachers also use a wide range of supplementary materials to enhance the core curriculum.
Fund Raising -
Parents and students are encouraged to participate in our fund-raising activities. The money received from fund raising will benefit the preschool. Parents will be informed on what the fund raising money will be spent on. Donations are accepted.
Holidays -
Please see the preschool calendar for days the preschool/daycare and school age program will be closed. The center is closed on all major holidays, also for a week during the summer for Riverlawn Christian Church's Vacation Bible School. A notice will be sent home with your child and posted on the Parent Board as a reminder of all school closings. Fees remain the same when the preschool/daycare is closed for holidays and breaks. Holidays at RCA will be celebrated with Christ-centered care. Halloween will not be acknowledged in any form. Christmas and Easter will be celebrated and presented solely as Christian holidays. NO Santa or Easter bunnies/eggs will be included. It is our policy that children may celebrate these holidays at home with you in any way you choose.
Discipline -
Discipline is a positive development experience when it is approached as a developmental concept and administered in the form of teaching, guidance, and role modeling; conversely, it is a negative experience when it inflicts fear, pain, and humiliation. A positive type of discipline is stating what needs to be done and why, i.e., "We walk inside. If you are running, you might slip and fall and hurt yourself or someone else." It shall be the policy of the program that we not use negative and/or physical methods of discipline and all such methods shall not be tolerated nor practiced by RCA employees. A separation time may be used to encourage your child to reevaluate their behavior. The reason for the separation will be explained. You will be notified if a particular behavior is repetitive or seen as a serious problem. In this way, home and the school can work together to encourage proper behavior.
Meals -
A hot lunch will be served to those children attending the daycare. Preschool-only children are welcome to stay for lunch. The cost is $5.00 per day and children must be picked up by 12:30pm. Late fees will apply to children left after 12:30pm. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks are also provided and will be carefully planned to insure proper and adequate nourishment. A menu will be posted on the Parent Board. Please call our attention to food allergies in writing as well as a verbal reminder. If your child is allergic to a particular food that is being served you will be asked to bring an acceptable substitute.
Field Trips -
Field trips are planned throughout the year to give children fun and educational experiences to enhance classroom learning. Authority must be given by you for your child to participate in any field trips. You will be notified if any field trips are planned and a permission slip will be available for your approval and signature.
